I stepped into this beautiful brown wardrobe. Once I stepped into it, I entered into one of the most breathtaking land I’ve ever seen. Blankets of snow are everywhere! They’re white and shiny as they can be! I was just on the magical land of Narnia!

Of course, I was just using my imagination, but that’s how I seriously felt when I went to Whistler, city that is two hours outside of Vancouver, today.

As someone who was coming from a charming southern state where snow hardly exists, being on a mountain packed full of snow was a surreal moment for me. Everywhere I went was a photographic moment for me.

Not only experiencing a whole new strange land was incredible, but also seeing the ski culture was unreal. Everywhere I walked, I was surrounded by people carrying ski or snowboards over their backs or people walking with ski on their feet. I felt so envious as I wanted to ski with them, but I sure do need some training first. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that one day!

Whistler is well-known ski resort that has been recognized by numerous magazines including Conde Nast. Whistler will host most of the alpine and sledding events during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

After a few days of gloomy weather, clouds finally shattered away to let the sun shine for the glorious drive that my parents and I took today to Whistler from Vancouver. We took the Sea to Sky highway, and it’s most stunning and breathtaking drive I’ve been on besides driving through the Basque countryside in France. Moutains known as the Canadian Rockies were covered everywhere. In fact, there were variety of mountains. There were mountains covered in green trees and leaves, and there were some that were covered in snow. What a wonder! We were even driving alongside the ocean. There were even quite a bit of mountains in the ocean. This drive did sure give me a wonderful taste of the British Columbia, one of Canada’s provinces. The drive was about two hours to Whistler. Dad sure did make a few stops along the way to allow me to take magnificent photographs.

I’m standing in middle of a place that is packed full of food. In one area, it’s packed full of fruits and vegetables. The colors of the fruits and vegetables are absolutely stunning! I gaze at a window that is filled with rows and rows of mouthwatering pastries that sit behind it. Looking at these pastries reminded me of my charming moments in France where this country was well known for its food. These two pastries stood out the most because they were my most favorite pastries that I ate in France, and with my clear memory, I clearly remember that I ate these two pastries on my last day with my French friend, Anais. It was the strawberry tart and the chantilly sandwhich. Chantilly is a French word for whipped cream. I love that word! They are just absolutely luscious! I sure did get them along with a cheese sandwhich for lunch. I sure do have let go my eating habits once in awhile. Hey! I’m on vacation! So, why not?!

The place that I was just at was the Public Market on Granville Island. Grainville Island is located just off the coast of Vancouver.

Granville Island is also known for its art galleries. This island is filled with galleries and artists. It’s definitely a place to stop if anyone’s looking for an art piece to take home.

What’s the sweetest thing we can taste in Canada? Chocolate? Canada sure do have some sweet chocolates, but that’s not it! Munchkin doughnuts with jelly? That’s definitely very yummy, but nope!

Hint*Hint! Take a look at the Canadian flag!

AHA! There’s a maple leaf on the Canadian flag! What can do with maple leaves?

The answer is to make them into maple syrup! Maple syrup is certainly the sweetest thing we can taste in Canada! I’ve been eating this most delicious muffin in Vancouver from this cute little cafe called Maple Delights. They have muffins made with maple syrup! YUMMMMMMMMM! There is no question that any food in Canada that has maple syrup in it is a speciality of Canada as I’ve never seen food in US made with maple syrup.

Maple Delights is flourised with bottles of variety of sizes of maple syrups, pastries made with maple syrup, chocolate made with maple syrup, and even ice cream made with maple syrup! It’s a great one-stop place for maple sweets!

What a lovely basket of rain Vancouver is getting! Everywhere I go, I am in a raincoat and carrying an unbrella. My hair that I just straightened that morning is curling away as I walk in the rain. Vancouver is certainly known for getting a giant basket of rain. Vancouver has been raining since the day I arrived. I wonder how the residences of Vancouver and its surrounding areas handling living in an almost-everyday-rainy life?

As we can see from weather.com, Vancouver sure does have high precipitation averages during the winter season, and part of fall and spring seasons.
