Castles are quite magnificent, aren’t they? When we watch Disney movies such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Snow White, we dream to live in those castles. Today, I got to visit a real castle for the first time, Vaut le Victome. It’s a very beautiful castle with water around it just as we would imagine. The entire interior is magnificent. The furniture are very elegant and decorative. I have to say that this castle reminded me a little bit of the house that my aunt and uncle live in – just millions of gorgeous antiques. I had a little history shock today – during the old days – 15th, 16th centuries – people were tiny! The beds were unbelievably tiny! They looked like they could only fit ONE person or even just a child! Another thing, the rugs were treated like a painting – they hung them on the wals instead of putting them on the floor! They surely did look like paintings! There were incredible and realistic details and they almost looked like photos. I also took a stoll in the garden that is behind the castle and it’s gorgeous. The fountains were just magnificent and I wanted to swim in there so badly! The plants are very geometric! People actually sculpt the bushes in order to keep the beauty of the shapes! This castle was belonged to M. Fouquet, a viscount of Melun and Vaux, and superintendent of finance in France under Louis XIV. I’m sure that not many tourists know about this place since there were not many today. I would definitely recommend to go there although it’s a long drive from the heart of Paris.
