Long hot day…
Today, Christophe took me on a tour around the parts of Paris that I have not seen yet. There are just unbelievably so much to see in this city! We saw the Opera, a place where concerts and shows are played. Right by the Opera, I saw the Academie National de Musique. It’s a very well known prestigious music school. I also saw Le Magdalenae, another church. What amazes me so much is that there are millions of churches in Paris, but no one goes there! they’re just used as a historic site! In Georgia, and in all states in the south of US, there millions of churches like Paris, but people actually go! – an interesting different culture perspective!
For lunch, we went to Quick, a french fast food place, but it’s better than McDonalds because the menu is million times bigger than McDonalds. They also have a HUGE selection of bakery goods too such as pies, dounuts, croissants, and many others. I just got a bag of really good breaded chicken sticks with honey muster…mmmmm!
After lunch, we continued walking in the HOT weather in Paris. Weather changes really fast in Paris. One day, it’s chilly. Another day, it’s hot. Many times, it can be chilly in the morning and then, boom! It’s hot! We took a stroll in the most expensive area of Paris, Rue la Paix. There are tons of boutiques that sells expensive diamond-ish jewerly and watches. Of course, I did not get any! WAY too expensive for me and who would want to wear millions of diamonds! (I do like diamonds, but not MILLIONS on me!) It was a nice long day of touring. Paris is much bigger than I thought!
Tomorrow, I am leaving the french New York City for the weekend to Normandy. It’ll be very nice to finally see the countryside of France, in particular the northern part of France and to get away from the overwhelming number of tourists and traffic for a short period of time. Don’t think that I am sick of Paris. I am loving every minute here, but like I said, it gets a little overwhelming to be in a very crowded, busy, and noisy city. In fact, my last host family that I stayed with, and Christophe’s family NEVER go to Paris or perhaps only once a year, even though they live right by it! It’s like me who lives right outside of Atlanta and go to the downtown only a few times a year!
P.S. If anyone is thinking of going to Paris this summer, you have to get a ticket at least one month in advance! It’s one of the MOST popular cities to visit during the summer vacation! There are just as many tourists in Paris as in New York City. Frequent flyer tickets are usually booked at least one year in advance! In fact, my dad tried to change his flight to a later time on the same day from Paris to Atlanta last summer and there were NO seats left on that day! All flights were completely filled!
