McDonald’s, New Museum, Just Another Day

Today, I explored Paris more with Christophe and his friends and finally got to see the Eiffel Tower in full view. French people love McDonald’s as much as the Americans! UH! We got McDonald’s for lunch and had a picnic on the garden lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower. I just got a random chicken sandwich. It was somewhat better than American McDonald’s chicken sandwich because it was not heavily fried and they used breading crumbs instead. Did you know that Starbucks is booming as much as McDonald’s is in France? I already saw at least two Starbucks in Paris! There are so many great cafes in Paris. So why do we need Starbucks? Starbucks better not become a Wal-mart. Because of the Wal-mart boom, a lot of great small business stores have been closing in US. In other words, Starbucks better not cause Paris’ great unique cafés to close!
After the picnic on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower, we went to a brand new museum that has been opened for only two weeks. It’s Musée du Quai Branly and it’s located in right front of the Eiffel Tower. This is a museum about different tribes from around the world including, Native Americans, Amazonians, Africans, and many others. They had HUGE exhibits of clothes, masks, jewelry, artwork, and dishes from every single tribe that we can name. This museum is so big that we spent about three hours there!
Afterwards, we went to the University of Paris Dauphine, a very well known university in Paris. Like I said, schools in France are completely different from United States. I do not know how I would be able to learn at this university! The building is so disgusting and dirty. The walls and the floor are incredibly worn down. There is even garbage on the floor too! This university is just one big building – no campus! Many students in France just live at home and commute to the school like elementary, middle, and high school students do! Most all kinds of schools in France are actually full of bare walls and are very gloomy unlike the schools in United States. Schools in United States have full bright walls of students’ artworks, school’s announcements and reminders, and many other things. Many American schools also have huge shelves of trophies and awards in the halls. Again, clubs and sports do not exist in France!
