World Cup Craze

I’m sure that many of you Americans have been ignoring the World Cup because we were kicked out ages ago. Well, France was heating up for the final World Cup. In fact, every time they had won each round; Paris went CRAZY! More than we can imagine. The images that we see in the news about Paris are NOT exageration! Last week Tuesday night, when France won against Spain, I had to pass through Paris from northern suburban area to southern suburban area, and I have to say that I have NEVER seen a city go WILD before in my life! Firetrucks, ambulances, and police cars were driving through the city with SIRENS on! Band players were out playing music loudly. People were running around the city with flags and screaming like crazy. There was a lady who was screaming at the top of her lungs and pouring out the wine from the air. People were even riding on top of the cars. I thought, how can people sleep through the night with all those noises in the city! I actually should ask my dad if he had to sleep with all those noises throughout the night because he was there that night!
Well, tonight, Anais and I went to a café where a lot of teenagers hang out and we watched the final World Cup on a huge screen. Of course, everyone was completely spirited – french flags on their face, ballons, and even screams! Even though, I’m not a sport fan, I stil had a blast with Anais and her friends. People in Bayonne are the most friendliest people. Once I walked in that café, everyone got so excited to see an American, and they all gave me kisses and hugs, and we even immediately started chatting together. Unfortunately, France lost…but we still had a blast.
