When I was in second grade, my teacher read a fascinating book to my class called, “The Best Mistakes Ever.” This book was filled with stories about mistakes that became the greatest inventions or even a historical site. Did you know that creating chocolate chip cookies is one of the best mistakes ever? A woman was trying to make chocolate cookies, but ran out of chocolate syrup, and so she just took a piece of chocolate candy and broke them into pieces thinking that they would melt into the cookies. Nope, the chocolate candy did not melt into the cookies. It became chocolate chip cookies! Yum!
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is another example of the best mistake ever. It was supposed to be a random building, but simply because the building became a leaning tower, it became a famous historical site that brought in lots of money to the city from tourists who are willing to pay 15 euros just to go inside that building.
I visited Pisa today where the Leaning Tower of Pisa is located. The Leaning Tower looks exactly like what I’ve been seeing in the images in the textbooks and on the internet. It’s just a tower that leans. The architectural design is actually quite beautiful, and it’s very Italian because there are arcades and columns.
