In front of me where I was standing, there was a yellow house. This house is a western-American style. In fact, this house was inspired by this family’s trip to the west of US. These images that I was viewing are not new. I was returning to the place where I had loads of fun a year ago; however, there were minor changes. My friend’s, Anais’s, parents are now divorce and thus, her father lives in this house and her mother moved to an apartment. The father came outside and greeted me with happiness. In the typical French culture, we gave each other a kiss on both cheeks, and also, gave each other a hug. Then we all entered the house, and as there was no change in the house, I felt like I have been living here since last summer.
The smell of spices spreaded through the house. It was Anais’ father cooking vegetables. In the typical French culture, especially in the Basque region, people put spices on the vegetables to make the taste richer. Using onions along with other vegetables is another key to riching the taste in vegetables. I eat produce like crazy when I am on a overseas trip. They are richer in taste than American’s produces. With spices, it’s certainly even richer. For those of you who do not like vegetables, I would try putting spices on them and stir-cook them with olive oil.
After dinner, Anais’ father brought a very special cake to the table. It was an abricot cake. I don’t how I can describe it, but it was very delicious. The cake was very pastery as it was made of a pastry dough, and then abricot jelly was put inside. We were celebrating my homecoming to Blasco’s home.
