Toward the outskirts of Florence, there is a beautiful river with buildings lining up on the side. There is a big well-known bridge, Ponte Vecchio. There are many jewelry shops on this bridge, and this area is one of the biggest pick-pocket areas which means we have to be careful with our wallets and bags!
As I walked through a grand museum, I recognize many images that I have studied in art history. I noticed a painting of a group of women in graceful movements and standing in a beautiful forest. It was Sandro Botticelli’s “Primavera.” His “Birth of Venus” painting was also displayed there. Cimabue’s and Duccio’s Madonna Enthroned paintings were there, and they were much more grand and magnificent than I expected. While I am not religious, there were many artistic qualities that created a change in the art world. Duccio created a theory of illusion of space. Illusion of space is seeing images in perspective view. Uffizi was a serious field trip for art students, especially art history majors as this museum is loathed with well – known pieces that we study in art history.
