It’s a whole new world…

“Ding…dong…ding…dong!”  Bell from the bell tower just rang.  The sun was already above the mountains.  There was just enough light to say that it was eight o’clock without looking at my watch to check the time.  I headed to the cafeteria for breakfast where I munched up some wonderful tasty crepes, a French food that is like pancakes, but it’s very flat, and a peach.  Fruits in Provence are just scrumptious. At around 8:30 AM, I headed back to the dorm.  Within 15 minutes, I brushed my teeth, gathered my materials, and headed to my first class, Treasures of Provence. “We’re going on a field trip this Thursday, next week Tuesday, next week Thursday, this day, and this day, and this day…”  My art history professor pointed out places where we will be visiting throughout the Provence region, and also showed us pictures on the PowerPoint of where we are heading.  10 out of 16 class sessions are field trips.  WOOOOOOOOOOOW!  I’m living inside the textbook!  GOOD TIMES!  GREAT VIBRATIONS! I can’t believe that I’m going to live like those kids in Magic School Bus book series!  My art history professor is seriously like Ms. Frizzle, except she doesn’t have red hair! Whooooooooooo! “Ding…dong…ding…dong…”  Bell just rang when the sun was high in the sky.  It was evidently 12 o’clock!  Time for lunch!  I went to the cafeteria and grabbed some fresh salad including tomatos.  I can’t miss a day of eating tomatoes as they’re so sweet here in Europe!  I also caught up with some friends and classmates there.  We discussed about our morning. Half hour later, I was heading to my next class, Animation Character and Layout Design.  Let me explain about this class first.  I originally signed up to take a class called “Travel Portfolio” but this class got canceled due to low enrollment.  UGH!  So, SCAD waived the pre-requisites to take Animation Character and Layout Design and allowed me to take this class.  I decided to take this class as it will fulfill my foundation studies requirement, and I really want to draw some beautiful pictures of Provence.  I have to admit that I hate drawing, even if I’m talented at it according to many people.  However, I don’t think I’ll despise drawing here in Provence.  I’m so inspired!  I’m going to get up at 7 AM tomorrow and draw the sunrise, as long as it’s not so cloudy!  My Animation professor is very nice and is very flexible about my goals for drawing in Provence.  He is very willing to work with me to accommodate my saddness for the loss of the “Travel Portfolio” class. The sky is just beginning to get a little dark.  “Ding…dong…ding…dong,” the bell rings once again!  It’s 7 PM.  It’s so wonderful not to have to look at my watch!  It’s dinner time!  My three roommates and I are out of the door and dashing down the bumpy road to the cafeteria! Life at SCAD-Lacoste couldn’t get any better!  Every Tuesday night, there is a faculty lecture where one facutly member gives a lecture about something that they wouldn’t talk about in class such as a story about their personal life or their artwork or etc.  Tonight, Andy, the photography professor, gave a lecture about his portfolio collection.  It’s always wonderful to get to know professors’ artwork so that I can understand themselves as persons. All students were gathered in a little room.  I felt like I was in a little town hall where the whole community was meeting together! I’m now in bed, and I need to go to sleep now.  I can’t wait for another morning of sunrise!  I’m living under the Provençal sun! Take a moment and listen to this song….

I’m taking you all to a whole new world.  I’m living in a whole different college life that I love so much!  This is the college where I feel at home!
