I got a new iron today!! I could not stand the crummy little small one that my mom sent with Dad. Therefore, I found a nicer one at a large appliance and electric store that I went to today. I figured that since I’ll be back in Europe soon for abroad study (SCAD has a campus in Provence, France. YES, it is a campus that is owned and operated by SCAD!!), I’ll just put that iron aside when I get home for my next Europe trip. That’s why I thought it was worth buying a new one. Anyways, that just made my day. However, I have not tried it yet! It better work! Also, in that store, I saw an iPod that cost 330 euros for a THIRTY gigabyte! That is MORE expensive than United States! I told Christophe that if he wants an iPod, I would wait until he’s in Atlanta! I wonder why the iPod is more expensive in Europe!
Afterwards, I went to Giverny where Claude Monet’s home and garden is located. It’s a beautiful area outside of Paris. This area is full of hilly grass and the Seine River also runs through this area too. Claude’s home is gorgeous. His home is filled with Japanese paintings and prints. Apparently, the impressionist artists were inspired by Japanese paintings and prints. In other words, the Japanese paintings and prints started the impressionist period. None of Claude’s actual paintings are in his house. All of his paintings are in the museum, mostly at the Musée d’Orsay. I will actually go to the Musée d’Orsay again this week, I hope. His garden is magnificent. Absolutely stunning! There are all kind of flowers, probably over 20 different kinds of flowers. There is also a river that runs through his garden, which I’m sure that you all know from his paintings. The entire garden and the river still looks exactly like what we see in the paintings. If any of you ever visit Paris, this place is a must-to-see! It’s about an hour outside of Paris by car.
A quick question: Does crème aux oeufs exist in United States? It’s like crème brulée, but I have no clue what’s the difference! Crème aux oeuf is some kind of egg cream or something. I have been eating it everyday and it’s incredibly good! It’s found in the supermarkets, in the yogurt section, in a package like yogurts. If it doesn’t exist in US, I’m going to cry!
